Short details of the story
The scene starts with Mike Enslin. He is a specialized horror genre author and writer. Mike's profession is basically based on investigating and examining reportedly haunted houses, even though his constantly unproductive studies have left him disappointed and pessimistic. Through a nameless caution (by means of postcard), Mike finally learns of the Dolphin Hotel in New York City, which caters the well-known "Room 1408". Interested yet unconvinced, Mike decides to check in one night in the hotel even though manager Olin (Jackson) warns him strongly against it. Mike has a chain of weird experiences in the room and lead him in a very crucial judgement at the end.
