The Thing (2011 movie)

Overview
The Thing is a 2011 science-fiction horror film directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr., and written by Eric Heisserer and Ronald D. Moore. It is a prequel to the 1982 film of the similar name by John Carpenter, the plot taking put right away prior to the events of that film.

It stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Joel Edgerton who are part of a team of Norwegian and American scientists who find out an alien buried deep in the ice of Antarctica, realizing too late that it is still alive, overwhelming then imitating the team members.

While the film was initially set for release in April, Universal Pictures altered the date to October 14, 2011, to allow time for reshoots. The purpose of the reshoots was to "enhance existing sequences or to make crystal clear a few story beats or to add punctuation marks to the film's feeling of dread."

When a uncomplicated experiment frees the alien from its frozen prison, Kate must unite the crew's pilot, Carter (Joel Edgerton), to remain it from killing them off one at a time. And in this gigantic, intense land, a parasite that can imitate anything it touches will pit human against human as it tries to live on and prosper.
